Reclaiming Your Voice, Wisdom, and Agency in Adventure Partnerships

Faint-Heartedness ← Courage → Overboldness

Many people find themselves in relationships with capable, confident, and decisive individuals. While these qualities can be attractive and valuable, they can also create an unintended imbalance. Over time, one partner's confidence may begin to overshadow the other's voice. Ideas go unspoken. Intuition is ignored. Needs remain unexpressed. Decisions become one-sided. The problem being disempowered, is that all parties are exposed to consequence.

This course explores the hidden relationship between over-boldness and faint-heartedness and helps people claim the courage necessary to participate fully in their own lives and adventure relationships.

Drawing from Aristotle's concept of courage, contemporary courage research, relationship psychology, and human development theory, participants learn how to recognize where they have become silent, hesitant, self-doubting, or disconnected from their own insights—and how to restore their capacity to speak, act, and lead from a mindset of authentic courage.

Course Content

This course is for women who are weary of being exposed to hazardous behaviours taking place on your adventures, and your perspective is undermined or overlooked.

By participating in this course you will develop:

Program Promise

Mindset Calibration for Risk Decision-Making
CA$550.00

Mindset is always a balance of forces coming together to produce a result. When these forces are out of balance we can experience less than optimal results. Learn what mindset trios we tend to engage with in our decision making and how to optimize your mindset for the best results.

This course is a two day in person review and facilitated discussion. The course uses the Mindset Calibration for Risk Decision-Making, and includes a Human Journey Card Deck (included in the price of the course.) We use powerful case studies. By putting ourselves in the shoes of the decision makers, we gain an awareness of the power of our mindset in the making of decisions and how being out of balance, is a fundamental human hazard.

Case Study

The course has the flexibility to use any case study because the tools can be used to unpack behaviours and their motivating mindsets.

Aidan has worked as an outdoor educator for college programs and Outward Bound, as a ski patrol, and as a mountain guide, while continuing his own pursuits in the mountains.  In an effort to answer WHY we engage in high potential consequence endeavours, and continue to honour the importance of returning home, he has studied Buddhist philosophy alongside human development from a corporate, educational, and self wellness perspective.  It is an absolute privilege to share the work of drawing growth from potentially consequential endeavours, and we welcome you to join on the journey.

Aidan grew up playing on the ocean and in the mountains of Maine.  A week after graduating high school, his sister passed away in a car accident. His community at the time was already rooted in outdoor pursuits, some of which quite risky from competitive skiing to whitewater paddling.  As he grew and healed from the loss of his sister, he continued to connect with people, and engage himself in high potential consequence activities from backcountry skiing to rock climbing and mountaineering.  The importance of returning home to his family, however, has never been lost on him.

Surviving Yourself In Hazardous Places

These Web and Classroom courses explore eight key strategies that nurture a direct gaze into your relationship with risk decision making. You will focus your lens as a leader and become more aware of how you tend to show up to adverse, hazard -rich situations and how you can make more evolved decisions in the future. “That which we fail to bring into consciousness will show up in our lives and we will call it fate.” - Carl Jung

Good or bad outcomes are rarely based on one individual response. They are typically a series of responses that either expand or reduce our options. Becoming aware of a typical series of responses that narrow our options and increase our exposure to negative consequences has incredible utility.

Knowledge Gained

  1. Understand that micro decisions lead to either greater or fewer options.

  2. Know strategies for capturing errors so that they are corrected for the future.

  3. Bring a deeper value to from the adverse situations you are in.

  4. Gain communication skills with yourself, others and the environment.

  5. Harvest richness from lived events, transforming them into experience.

  6. Understand more deeply who you really are.

  7. Access a deeper courage than you thought possible.

  8. Harness the power of your journeys and transform your life.

Awareness cards depict two ways we show up to face challenges; We use Shadow or Luminant Power. Shadow is not our best selves and often leads to less evolved responses. Acknowledgement of these elements is critical for hazard or adversity management. Consciousness of this choice tends to lead to higher level choices, maturation, and clarity. Awareness of this process is a positive game changer for leadership in high hazard or adverse situations.

Awareness Card Example

The left side of the image features a card titled 'GRACE' with a black and white abstract illustration of a person reaching out to a swirling tree with a sun in the background, and the phrase 'THROUGH EMPOWERING OTHERS' at the bottom. The right side shows a card with a dragon logo titled 'HUBRIS: DISEMBOWERMENT' followed by questions about disempowering and empowering others.
