Post Traumatic

Adversity Management

No traumatic event should go to waste. Life changing events present opportunities for courageous actions that illuminate lessons, that when harvested reduce suffering.

Once the rescue is over, the integration journey begins.

Being rescued can be the beginning of the journey.

1) Heart Centred Post Traumatic Debriefs

A skilled, respectful and diligent debrief is a critical element for managing the human and social hazards of a traumatic event for several reasons; First of all it is an opportunity for the individuals involved to connect with their humanity and to be a witness to the impact of the incident on everyone involved at all levels. No one is silenced and no perspective is overlooked or deminished. Secondly, the debrief is an opportunity to ask questions and have factual dialogue about what happened. Thirdly, the debrief is an opportunity for individuals to share what they experienced, which is important not only for the events to be metabolized in community, but for them to be recorded for the sole purpose of learning and growth. Finally, the debrief, although difficult, has an acute pain that has the potential to reduce the chronic pain, and latent hazards of an event. A well led debrief, has the aim creating community.

2) Incident Analysis and Report Generation

A well crafted incident report is a study of both the technical and human elements that led to a fatal outcome. An incident report answers important questions and is educational content that becomes a timeless gift to the stakeholders of the incident. Professionals, family, friends, the community and future generations deserve to have access to the facts related to fatal events (if they choose to engage with them) so suffering is reduced. Complete, well written Incident Reports and Case Studies are a social responsibility now and for future generations.

3) Integration Coaching or Workshop

One on one coaching or two-day group workshop is for traumatized adventures and those who love them. Individuals who paddle, rock climb, cave, dive, cave-dive, surf, backcountry ski, hike, and mountaineer. People who have experienced a traumatic event with a severe consequence.

How one responds to a lived traumatic event will affect the quality and direction of life. Gain strategies in integration, so that you can effectively navigate the adversity to benefit yourself, others and your community.

The coaching and the workshop are based on a values based strategy that provides insight into the choices available to the individual(s) help draw value from the events lived, so that forward movement can occur with the gifts and wisdom of a new perspective. Both the coaching and the workshops are taught by trauma coaches that have successfully lived through catastrophic events and have turned them into these valuable teachings.
