“That which we fail to bring into consciousness will show up in our lives and we will call it fate.” - Carl Jung

During this course, we will explore eight key responses that either increase our options in challenging situations or decrease them. Increasing our options is always a good thing because the best one can be chosen.

This workshop offers an evolutionary step in the practice of adversity management, where you discover the best version of you at work that has benefits at home.

Taught by adversity management specialist Ken Wylie. Ken has worked as an internationally certified mountain guide, facilitator, and author, and speaker on challenge. The materials he has developed are a giant leap forward in managing adversity.

Awareness Card Examples

The awareness cards you will receive on the course depict two energies of which to be conscious. All eight awarenesses you will learn about have a shadow side. The shadow represents a choice that limits our options and often leads to less evolved responses. Acknowledgement of these elements is critical in decision making. Consciousness of these choices leads to clarity and better decision making in adverse environments. Awareness of this process is a positive game changer for decision making.

Courageous Action.

Those who work in health care, first response, transport, firefighting, search and rescue, construction and heavy industry make decisions that have the potential to be life threatening. The social and physical environments we work in require courageous action. To perform tasks with accuracy and competence is critical. However, many try to project a model of perfection so that competence is communicated. But competence is a process of failure, learning and trying again.

Working WITH our imperfection is how we manage adversity. If we look away from our shortcomings, we blind ourselves to potential solutions. When we operate from a position of truth, we make our best possible choices because we can see challenges in honest ways as opposed to pretending they do not apply to us, or that they are beyond our grasp.
